A dental implant replaces a missing tooth or teeth and looks and functions like a natural tooth. The steps typically involved are: 
  1. Our Resident Dentists will assess a 3D scan of the region where the implant is required.
  2. If suitable to proceed with an implant, a titanium screw is fixed into the jaw bone and left to ‘integrate’ with the bone for at least 3 months, in a virtually painless procedure. 
  3. A crown (tooth) is then screwed onto the screw which is now healed and fixed into your bone. You can then immediately enjoy chewing and/or smiling with your new tooth which will match your current teeth.

How much do dental implants cost?

At Dental Residence, Implants range from $2800 - $6600. Price varies depending on the type of implant required, if a bone graft is necessary and how close certain anatomical structures are to the implant. 

How long do dental implants last?

Implants are a ‘permanent’ solution. As long as you care for the implant like a normal tooth, it can last a lifetime. However, just like natural teeth, if you fail to brush, floss and have a healthy lifestyle, it will increase the chances of problems arising with the implant tooth.

​How much will my Health Fund cover?

The amount that your health fund will cover will vary greatly depending on the health fund and the level of coverage you have. So it is important to do your research. The main costs of Dental Implants covered by health funds will be in the ‘Major Dental’ category and top Extra Covers could cover up to $2000 of the procedure.

​Alternatively, if you bring your health fund card in to your initial assessment then we can give you a good estimate of the rebate that you would be likely to receive.

Can I get a quote up front?

Yes! We will take a scan of your mouth to make an initial assessment. An itemised price list, unique to your mouth and required treament, is printed or emailed to you prior to the procedure so that there are no surprises. 

Do you have payment instalment options?

Yes, we offer both Afterpay and ZipPay, which allows you to break up the cost of your treatment across smaller instalments. We also offer other payment plan options, which our helpful staff can help you to navigate.

Can I ​use my superannuation for dental implants?

Yes! All Australian citizens can apply for the early release of superannuation on compassionate grounds to help cover the cost of medical treatments. This does include dental treatment for missing teeth. We have successfully provided many implants to patients who had requested early release of their superannuation for the procedure.

Does medicare cover dental implants?

In general, Medicare does not cover dental implants. However, there are some special cases where it could be considered clinically necessary. Our friendly dentists can help you to determine if you qualify. However, this option is usually only available for exceptional cases.
